Text
- Bir yil oldin men sport bilan shugʻullanmagan edim va tez nafas qisilar edim. Avval razminka va yengil trenajorlardan boshladim. Uch oydan keyin oʻn kilometrni tanaffussiz yugurdim. Kuzda marafonga qatnashdim, garchi oyogʻimda eski choʻzilish bor edi. Startda uch ming sportchi va koʻp muxlislar edi. Finishga toʻrt soatda yetib keldim — medalsiz, lekin oʻz rekordim bilan.A year ago I did no sport and quickly ran out of breath. First I began with a warm-up and light machines. After three months I ran ten kilometers without a break. In autumn I took part in a marathon, though there was an old strain in my leg. At the start there were three thousand athletes and many fans. I reached the finish in four hours — without a medal, but with a record for myself.

Frequently asked
What level do you need to read this text in Uzbek?
B1. That means: everyday topics are behind you, you know about three thousand words, and an unknown word is more often guessed from the sentence than looked up.
How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?
First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
