How it works

The question is built with the word kii — "how many" — before the measure: kii met — "how many meters?". The answer is a number and a measure, and nothing else: saam kilokram — "three kilograms". No verb: numbers and measures live in Thai without a predicate.
The only trick is the order: the number goes before the measure, the way "3 kg" is written. And the word phodi — "exactly" — stands before the number: phodi ha kilokram — "exactly five kilograms".
