Two 'we's: நாங்க and நாம, and why confusing them is awkward
The Tamil 'we' is double. Choosing between the two forms means choosing whether the person you are talking to is inside it. For example: “நாம சேர்ந்து ஒரு அறப்பணி பண்ணுவம், நீங்களும் வாங்க” — Let us do a good deed together — and you come too. A rule from the Tamil course: worked out on examples, not memorized as a wording.
How it works
The Tamil 'we' is double. Choosing between the two forms means choosing whether the person you are talking to is inside it.
நாங்க (nāṅga) is we without you: நாங்க போறம் (nāṅga pōṟam) — 'we are going, you are not'. நாம (nāma) is we with you: நாம போவம் (nāma pōvam) — 'let us go, you too'. Every call to join in uses நாம.
A slip costs in both directions. Say நாங்க போறம் to a neighbor about a shared job and it lands as a reproach. Say நாம போவம் to a stranger and you have invited him along, and he will come.
The verb differs too: நாங்க takes -றம் or -ஓம், நாம takes -வம் for 'let us'. So does 'our': எங்கட ஊர் (eṅgaḍa ūr) is the town without you, நமது நாடு the country you share.

How the rule settles in your head
A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.
