Twice a week: how Tamil counts repeats and time
A 'time' you count is தரம் or முறை: ஒரு தரம் 'once', ரெண்டு தரம் 'twice', எத்தனை தரம்? 'how many times?'. The island prefers தரம், Tamil Nadu முறை. How it works
A 'time' you count is தரம் (taram) or முறை (muṟai): ஒரு தரம் (oru taram) 'once', ரெண்டு தரம் (reṇḍu taram) 'twice', எத்தனை தரம் (ettaṉai taram)? 'how many times?'. The island prefers தரம், Tamil Nadu முறை.
'A week' takes the ending -க்கு, the one that gives. வாரத்துக்கு ரெண்டு தரம் (vārattukku reṇḍu taram) is 'twice a week', நாலு வருஷத்துக்கு ஒரு தரம் (nālu varuṣattukku oru taram) 'once in four years'. The pattern is rigid: span in -க்கு, then the number, then தரம்.
'Every' is ஒவ்வொரு (ovvoru), and it wants -உம் (--um) at the end: ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் (ovvoru nāḷum) 'every day'. தினமும் (tiṉamum) is a ready word for 'daily', and shorter.
How long a thing lasts is a bare noun or a noun with -ஆ (-ā). ரெண்டு மணித்தியாலம் ஓடினேன் 'I ran two hours'; ரெண்டு மணித்தியாலமா காத்திருக்கிறேன் (reṇḍu maṇittiyālamā kāttirukkiṟēṉa) 'I have waited two hours'.
