How it works
English 'in order to' is shown here not by a link word but by an ending on the first verb. The purpose then moves to the front. The simplest case is the verb in -அ: நகம் வெட்ட ஒரு கத்தரிக்கோல் தாங்க (nagam veṭṭa oru kattarikkōl tāṅga) — 'give me scissors to cut my nails'.
The short form only serves when one and the same person does both things. If they differ, take -றதுக்கு (--ṟadukku): அவர் வர்றதுக்கு காத்திருக்கிறேன் (avar varṟadukku kāttirukkiṟēṉa) — 'I am waiting for him to come'. The same turn answers என்னத்துக்கு? 'what for?'.
With nouns instead of verbs the purpose shows with plain -க்கு: சாப்பாட்டுக்கு (sāppāṭṭukku) 'for food', பழுதுபார்ப்புக்கு காசு 'money for repairs'. It is the same -க்கு you use in எனக்கு (eṉakku).
