Քսան, հարյուր, երկրորդ, քառորդ: numbers beyond ten
From eleven to nineteen the number is built from տասն- plus a number you know: տասնմեկ, տասներկու, տասներեք, տասնյոթ. All written as one word. How it works
From eleven to nineteen the number is built from տասն- (tasn) plus a number you know: տասնմեկ (tasnmek), տասներկու (tasnerku), տասներեք (tasnerek'), տասնյոթ (tasnyot'). All written as one word.
The tens have words of their own: քսան (k'san) 20, երեսուն (yeresun) 30, քառասուն (k'arrasun) 40, հիսուն (hisun) 50, վաթսուն (vat'sun) 60, ութսուն (ut'sun) 80.
A compound number joins up: քսաներեք (k'sanerek'), twenty-three. Hundreds and thousands go the other way, written apart: հարյուր հիսուն (haryur hisun), երկու հազար քսան (yerku hazar k'san).
Ordinals take the tail -րդ: երկրորդ (yerkrord), երրորդ (yerrord), հինգերորդ (hingerord). One trap only: 'first' is առաջին (arrajin), with no -րդ at all.
