Before the start everyone received an induction and work clothes. My job is to check every item before it goes into a box. If an item is bad, I set it aside and write down the number. After lunch the machine broke, and the work stalled for two hours. The technician fixed the machine, and everyone worked on until everything was done.

How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?
First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
