Counting the times: ครั้ง — the classifier of events
English says "three times"; Thai says "time three": the number follows the classifier, and khrang is the classifier for events. nueng khrang — once; song khrang — twice; thuk khrang — every time. Everything that happens is counted in khrang. For example: “ผม มา ไทย สาม ครั้ง แล้ว” — I have been to Thailand three times already. A rule from the Thai course: worked out on examples, not memorized as a wording.
How it works
English says "three times"; Thai says "time three": the number follows the classifier, and khrang is the classifier for events. nueng khrang — once; song khrang — twice; thuk khrang — every time. Everything that happens is counted in khrang.
The question "how many times?" is kii khrang — the same kii as in "what time". The answer is short: song khrang — and everything is clear.
"The first time" is khrang laek: laek — first by count. "The last" is khrang sut thai: sut thai — "the very end", your word. "Another time" is khrao naa: Thai sees the next time ahead, just like the next month.
The time of the event is put as a separate word: ton pen dek — "in childhood"; samai nan — "in those times". Thai does not conjugate the verb — the past is brought by time words, not by a form.

How the rule settles in your head
A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.

What does it look like in a Thai example sentence?
“ผม มา ไทย สาม ครั้ง แล้ว” (пхом ма тхай саам кхранг лаэо) — I have been to Thailand three times already. A rule is easier to test on sentences like this than to memorize as a wording: what surfaces in conversation is the sentence.
