Very, a little, too much: ரொம்ப, கொஞ்சம், அதிகம்
Degree goes before the word it belongs to, almost always as one short adverb. The two main ones are ரொம்ப 'very' and கொஞ்சம் 'a little'. ரொம்ப நல்லா இருக்கு is 'very good', கொஞ்சம் உப்பு போடுங்க is 'add a little salt'. For example: “இந்த படம் ரொம்ப சுவாரஸ்யமா இருந்தது” — That film was very interesting. A rule from the Tamil course: worked out on examples, not memorized as a wording.
How it works
Degree goes before the word it belongs to, almost always as one short adverb. The two main ones are ரொம்ப (romba) 'very' and கொஞ்சம் (koñcam) 'a little'. ரொம்ப நல்லா இருக்கு (romba nallā irukku) is 'very good', கொஞ்சம் உப்பு போடுங்க (koñcam uppu pōḍuṅga) is 'add a little salt'.
ரொம்ப also does the work of 'too'. Tamil keeps no separate word for excess, so இது ரொம்ப பெரிசு (idu romba perisu) is both 'this is very big' and 'this is too big'.
அதிகம் (adigam) and குறைவு (kuṟaivu) are 'much' and 'little' about quantity. They usually come after the word: விலை அதிகம் (vilai adigam) 'the price is high', சத்தம் குறைவு (sattam kuṟaivu) 'there is little noise'.
Chances are a row of their own: கண்டிப்பா (kaṇḍippā) 'for sure', ஒருவேளை (oruvēḷai) 'maybe'. Both open the phrase: ஒருவேளை மழை வரும் (oruvēḷai maḻai varum) 'maybe it will rain'.

How the rule settles in your head
A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.

What does it look like in an example sentence Tamil?
“இந்த படம் ரொம்ப சுவாரஸ்யமா இருந்தது” (inda paḍam romba suvārasyamā irundadu) — That film was very interesting. A rule is easier to test on sentences like this than to memorize as a wording: what surfaces in conversation is the sentence.
