სარეცხი, საყინულე, გამათბობელი: how Georgian names appliances
Nearly every appliance name is built by one of two patterns. See the pattern and an unknown word makes sense the first time. For example: “თმის საშრობი და საპარსი ერთ ყუთშია” — The hair dryer and the razor are in one box. A rule from the Georgian course: worked out on examples, not memorized as a wording.
How it works
Nearly every appliance name is built by one of two patterns. See the pattern and an unknown word makes sense the first time.
First: სა-…-ი and სა-…-ე — what you do it with, or where. სარეცხი (saretskhi) — what you wash with (რეცხვა (retskhva) — to wash). საპარსი (saparsi) — a razor, სავარცხელი (savartskheli) — a comb. საყინულე (saqinule) — a freezer (ყინული (qinuli) — ice).
Second: მა-…-ებელი — the thing that does it. გამათბობელი (gamatbobeli) — a heater, ჩამრთველი (chamrtveli) — a switch, დამტენი (damteni) — a charger. The same pattern names people by their work: მასწავლებელი (mastsavlebeli) — a teacher, გამყიდველი (gamqidveli) — a seller.
Whatever did not fit into one word takes a second noun in front, ending in -ის (-is). თმის საშრობი (tmis sashrobi) — a hair dryer. ქანჩის გასაღები (kanchis gasaghebi) — a spanner.

How the rule settles in your head
A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.
