სწავლა, გაზომვა, ჩაწერა: the dictionary name of a verb and how to reach a live form
An English 'to do' form comes out here as a word in -ა, -ება or -ვა. სწავლა — to learn, გაზომვა — to measure. Only it is not an infinitive. Georgian has no infinitive at all. It has an action name — a noun, with the same endings as any other. For example: “სიტყვების სწავლა ყოველ დილით მჭირდება” — Learning words is something I need every morning. A rule from the Georgian course: worked out on examples, not memorized…
How it works
An English 'to do' form comes out here as a word in -ა, -ება or -ვა. სწავლა (stsavla) — to learn, გაზომვა (gazomva) — to measure. Only it is not an infinitive. Georgian has no infinitive at all. It has an action name — a noun, with the same endings as any other.
First consequence: this name takes noun endings. სწავლა → სწავლის → სწავლას (stsavlas) → სწავლით.
Second, and the most useful: what the action is aimed at takes -ის (-is). English says 'to read a book'; Georgian says წიგნის კითხვა (tsignis kitkhva), literally 'the book's reading'. Same with მანქანის ტარება (mankanis tareba) — to drive a car.
Third: how to reach a live verb. Drop the name's ending and add the person. სწავლა → ვსწავლობ (vstsavlob) — I learn. გაზომვა → გავზომავ — I will measure.

How the rule settles in your head
A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.
