- Անցեալ ամիս երկու աշխատանքի առաջարկ ստացայ եւ երկար չէի կրնար որոշել։ Մէկ կողմէն՝ առաջինին աշխատավարձը բարձր էր, միւս կողմէն՝ գրասենեակը քաղաքէն դուրս։ Երկրորդը մօտ էր, փոխարէնը դրամը փոքր։ Ընկերս ըսաւ, որ նման հնարաւորութիւն հազուադէպ կ'ըլլայ, եւ որ դժուար թէ երկրորդ անգամ ըլլայ։ Ես կը կարծէի, որ դրամը գլխաւորն է, բայց իրականութեան մէջ ինծի ժամանակն էր պէտք։ Ընդհանուր առմամբ, երկու տարբերակն ալ լաւն էին, եւ գէշ ընտրութիւն չկար։ Ի վերջոյ ընտրեցի մօտիկը, որպէսզի ամէն օր երկու ժամ ճանապարհին վրայ չկորսնցնեմ։ Մինչ այժմ չեմ ափսոսար։antseal amis yergu ashkhadank'i arracharg sdatsay yev yergar chei grnar voroshel Meg goghmen arrachinin ashkhadavartsə partsr er, myus goghmen kraseneagə k'aghak'en turs Yergrortə mod er, p'okharenə tramə p'ok'r Əngers əsav, vor nman hnaravorut'yun hazvateb g'əllay, yev vor tzhuar t'e yergrort ankam əllay Yes gə gardzei, vor tramə klkhavorn e, payts iraganut'ean mech indzi zhamanagn er bedk' Ənthanur arrmamp, yergu darperagn al lavn ein, yev kesh əndrut'yun chgar I verchoy əndretsi modigə, vorbeszi amen or yergu zham janabarhin vra chgorsntsnem Minch ayzhm chem ap'sosarLast month I received two job offers and could not decide for a long time. On the one hand, the first had a higher salary; on the other, the office was outside the city. The second was close, but the money was less. A friend said that such an opportunity comes rarely and that there will hardly be a second time. I thought money was the main thing, but in fact I needed time. All in all, both options were good, and there was no bad choice. In the end I chose the nearer one, so as not to lose two hours a day on the road. I have not regretted it to this day.
Comprehension questions
The questions are asked in Russian on purpose: we test your understanding of the text, not your ability to read the question.
- What was the advantage of the first offer?
- What did the friend say?
- What turned out to be more important for the narrator than money?
- What did he choose in the end?
Frequently asked
What level do you need to read this text in Western Armenian?
B1. That means: everyday topics are behind you, you know about three thousand words, and an unknown word is more often guessed from the sentence than looked up.
How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?
First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
