Text

  • Dilnoza shu yili universitetga kirdi. U tarix fakultetida oʻqiydi. Dars jadvali zich: har kun uchta dars. Imtihon oldidan u mavzuni takrorlaydi. Yotoqxona uzoq emas, avtobus ham yaqin.
This year Dilnoza entered the university. She studies at the history faculty. The timetable is dense: three lessons every day. Before the exam she reviews the topics. The dormitory is not far, and the bus is close.

Comprehension questions

The questions are asked in Russian on purpose: we test your understanding of the text, not your ability to read the question.

  1. Where does Dilnoza study?

  2. How many lessons are there every day?

  3. What does she do before the exam?

  4. How does she get to the dormitory?

Frequently asked

What level do you need to read this text in Uzbek?

A2. That means: you know the letters and have a stock of everyday words — about two or three hundred.

How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?

First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
