Text

  • Har oy boshida biz oila bilan byudjetni hisoblaymiz. Avval ijara haqi va uy xarajatlari, keyin non-choy, oxirda qolgan pul. Xarajatlar daromaddan koʻp boʻlsa, pul yetmaydi. Shu yildan biz har oy jamgʻaryapmiz: kam-kam, lekin barqaror. Tez orada jamgʻarma katta boʻladi va uy uchun yetadi.
At the start of every month our family counts the budget. First the rent and the household expenses, then food, and at the end the money left over. If the expenses are more than the income, the money does not stretch. Since this year we put money aside every month: little by little, but constantly. Soon the savings will grow big and suffice for a house.

Frequently asked

What level do you need to read this text in Uzbek?

B1. That means: everyday topics are behind you, you know about three thousand words, and an unknown word is more often guessed from the sentence than looked up.

How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?

First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
