Text

  • Ertaga doʻstim bilan Samarqandga boramiz. Chiptani bugun oldim: borish-kelish chiptasi arzonroq. Poyezd ertalab yettida joʻnaydi, shuning uchun erta turish kerak. Bagaj kam: faqat kichkina chanta. Chemodanni olmaymiz, chunki bir kunga boramiz.
Tomorrow my friend and I are going to Samarkand. I bought the ticket today: a round-trip ticket is cheaper. The train leaves at seven in the morning, so one must get up early. There is little luggage: only a small bag. We do not take the suitcase, because we are going for one day.

  2. Which ticket did he buy?

  3. When does the train leave?

  4. What is he taking along?

Frequently asked

What level do you need to read this text in Uzbek?

A2. That means: you know the letters and have a stock of everyday words — about two or three hundred.

How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?

First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
