Text
- Yozda doʻstlar bilan sohilga bordik. Oʻsha kuni toʻlqin yoʻq edi, shuning uchun uzoq suzdik. Quyosh kremisini uyda unutdim — kechqurun juda qordim. Bir doʻst quyosh soyaboni ostida choy ichdi, men quyoshda qordim. Kechqurun hamma uyga qaytdik. In summer we went to the shore with friends. That day there were no waves, so we swam a long time. I forgot the sunscreen at home — by the evening I was badly sunburnt. One friend drank tea under a parasol, while I tanned. In the evening we all went home.

Frequently asked
What level do you need to read this text in Uzbek?
A2. That means: you know the letters and have a stock of everyday words — about two or three hundred.
How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?
First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
