The weather lives without a verb: ฝน ตก, แดด ออก and อากาศ with a state word

How it works
English says "it is raining" with an empty "it". Thai names the thing and what it does. fon tok — "the rain falls"; daet ok — "the sun comes out". phayu ma — "the storm comes".
For how the weather feels, use akat, "the air", plus a state word: akat ron — hot; akat nao — cold. The question is akat pen yang rai — "the air is how?".
For what is around, use mii, "there is": mii maek — there are clouds; mii mok — there is fog.
The trap: the weather has no tense. fon tok is "it rains" and "it rained" alike. Add laeo for a change that has happened: fon tok laeo — "it has started to rain". Add cha for later: fon cha tok — "it will rain".
