Tomorrow: the future tense
To say 'I will go', slip -வ- in between the root and the person ending you know. போ 'go' gives போவேன், வா 'come' gives வருவேன். For example: “நாளைக்கு நான் யாழ்ப்பாணம் போவேன்” — Tomorrow I will go to Jaffna. A rule from the Tamil course: worked out on examples, not memorized as a wording.
How it works
To say 'I will go', slip -வ- in between the root and the person ending you know. போ (pō) 'go' gives போவேன் (pōvēṉ), வா (vā) 'come' gives வருவேன் (varuvēṉ).
Talk often does without the form. If நாளைக்கு (nāḷaikku) 'tomorrow' is already in the sentence, the verb stays in the present: நாளைக்கு நான் போறேன் (nāḷaikku nāṉ pōṟēṉ). The -வ- form sounds a shade firmer, like a promise.
For a thing, the weather or an animal it looks different: no person ending, just -உம் (--um). மழை வரும் (maḻai varum) 'it will rain', கடை மூடும் 'the shop will close'. The same form says what always happens.
The negative walks past -வ- altogether: stem in -அ plus மாட்டேன் (māṭṭēṉ). நான் வர மாட்டேன் (nāṉ vara māṭṭēṉ) — 'I will not come'.

How the rule settles in your head
A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.
