Dopełniacz: the of-form you need to buy bread
Polish grammar books call it dopełniacz. Here it is the of-form: the shape a noun takes where English would often say of or no. You need it for shopping from day one. For example: “Nie mam dzisiaj czasu na zakupy” — Today I have no time for shopping. A rule from the Polish course: worked out on examples, not memorized as a wording.
How it works
Polish grammar books call it dopełniacz. Here it is the of-form: the shape a noun takes where English would often say of or no. You need it for shopping from day one.
After no. Mam paragon → Nie mam paragonu: once the verb has nie, its object takes the of-form. English leaves the noun alone here.
After amounts. dużo, mało, więcej and any number from five take the of-form: dużo klientów, pięć godzin. So does brakuje mi — I'm short of: brakuje mi czasu.
After prepositions. do, od, dla, bez, u and z in the sense of from all take it: do piątku, bez pieniędzy, u piekarza — at the baker's.

How the rule settles in your head
A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.
