There are not many linking words, but each has its own place, and the place is what to remember, not the translation. How it works
There are not many linking words, but each has its own place, and the place is what to remember, not the translation.
Cause. რადგან (since) is the first word of its own part: რადგან ვიზა გამიგრძელდა (radgan viza gamigrdzelda), დავრჩი (davrchi). Colloquial იმიტომ რომ (imitom rom) goes only after the main part. The result is opened by ამიტომ (amitom): ვიზა გამიგრძელდა (viza gamigrdzelda), ამიტომ დავრჩი (amitom davrchi).
Objection. თუმცა (tumtsa) opens the part that argues with what was just said: ძვირია (dzviria), თუმცა ვიყიდე (tumtsa viqide). And მიუხედავად იმისა (miukhedavad imisa), რომ (rom) opens the opposite part and stands in front of it. These are mirror phrases, and swapping them is wrong.
And the rule that holds it all together: the verb in the attached part drifts to its end. რადგან ბილეთი ძვირი იყო (radgan bileti dzviri iqo), არ წავედით (ar tsavedit) sounds natural; რადგან იყო ბილეთი ძვირი (radgan iqo bileti dzviri) does not.
