Politeness: the letter თ and the phrase 'if possible'
Politeness rests on one letter. -თ at the end of a verb, and you have switched to the polite 'you': მოიცადე (wait) → მოიცადეთ, გაიმეორე → გაიმეორეთ. The same თ sits in როგორ ხართ? and გმადლობთ. How it works
Politeness rests on one letter. -თ at the end of a verb, and you have switched to the polite 'you': მოიცადე (wait) → მოიცადეთ (moitsadet), გაიმეორე (gaimeore) → გაიმეორეთ (gaimeoret). The same თ sits in როგორ ხართ (rogor khart)? and გმადლობთ (gmadlobt).
The second brick is თუ შეიძლება (tu sheidzleba), literally 'if possible'. Georgian has no separate word for 'please', and this phrase stands in for it. It goes at the end: ერთი ყავა (erti qava), თუ შეიძლება.
The third is how you address people. To a man ბატონო (batono), to a woman ქალბატონო — not old-fashioned but ordinary, used with a shopkeeper, a neighbour, an official.
A direct command does not sound rude here: მოიტანეთ წყალი (moitanet tsqali) is a plain 'bring some water'. No softening needed.
