One ending or two: -եր and -ներ
Armenian picks the plural by the length of the word. One syllable takes -եր, longer words take -ներ: ծառ → ծառեր, տոմս → տոմսեր, but ալիք → ալիքներ, ճամպրուկ → ճամպրուկներ. How it works
Armenian picks the plural by the length of the word. One syllable takes -եր, longer words take -ներ: ծառ (tsarr) → ծառեր (tsarrer), տոմս (toms) → տոմսեր, but ալիք (alik') → ալիքներ (alik'ner), ճամպրուկ (champruk) → ճամպրուկներ.
Syllables are counted by sound, not by letters. Anything ending in -ություն is long: ուրախություն (urakhut'yun) → ուրախություններ. But ուս (us) and գույն (guyn) are one syllable each.
Exceptions are few and common: մարդ (mard) → մարդիկ (people), կին (kin) → կանայք (women). Learn them as separate words.
And the big one: after a number there is no plural at all. Երկու տոմս (yerku toms), never 'երկու տոմսեր'. Հինգ օր (hing or), տասը մարդ (tasə mard). The number has said how many; the noun need not repeat it.
