Verbs in -ել take an 'e' in that ending (գրել (grel) → կգրեմ (kgrem)); verbs in -ալ take an 'a' (կարդալ (kardal) → կկարդամ). If the verb starts with a vowel, կ simply stands in front: ուտել (utel) → կուտեմ (kutem).
The trap is the negative: կ vanishes. Not 'չկգնամ' but չեմ (chem) գնա (gna) (chem gna) — negative linker plus the bare form. Չեմ (chem) ուշանա (chem ushana) is 'I won't be late'. Hold the two together as a pair: կգնամ (kgnam) — չեմ (chem) գնա (gna).
