Text
- Haydash guvohnomasi uchun imtihonni yigirma toʻqqiz yoshimda topshirdim, doʻstlarimdan koʻp keyin. Ustoz tinch haydashni maslahat berdi, aks holda xato qilaman deb aytdi. Imtihonda eng qiyin qism ikki mashina orasiga parkovka boʻlib chiqdi. Oʻng tomonga ortiq qiydim, lekin tuzatdim va ustoz hech narsa aytmadi. Bilganimcha, odamlarning kamida yarmi imtihonni birinchi urinishda topshirmaydi. Menga esa birinchi urinishda qob keldi, koʻp ehtimol har dam olish kunida mashq qilganim uchun.I took my driving exam at twenty-nine, much later than my friends. The instructor advised driving calmly, or I would make a mistake. At the exam the hardest part turned out to be parking between two cars. I veered too far right but corrected myself, and the instructor said nothing. As far as I know, at least half of the people do not pass on the first attempt. And I passed on the first, most likely because I trained every weekend.

Frequently asked
What level do you need to read this text in Uzbek?
B1. That means: everyday topics are behind you, you know about three thousand words, and an unknown word is more often guessed from the sentence than looked up.
How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?
First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
