Text

  • Yeni işe başlamadan önce sözleşmeyi baştan sona okudum. Görev ve sorumluluklar açık yazılmış, çalışma saatleri de belli. Deneme süresi iki ay; bu sürede iki taraf da sözleşmeyi bitirebiliyor. Fazla mesai varsa ayrıca ödeniyor, ücretli izin ise yılda on dört gün. Bir tek prim konusu belirsizdi; sordum, yılda bir kez veriliyormuş.
Before starting the new job I read the contract from beginning to end. The duties are written clearly, and the work schedule is defined too. The probation period is two months; during that time either party can terminate the contract. Overtime, if there is any, is paid separately, and paid vacation is fourteen days a year. Only the bonus question was unclear; I asked — it turns out it's given once a year.

Comprehension questions

The questions are asked in Russian on purpose: we test your understanding of the text, not your ability to read the question.

  1. When did he read the contract?

  2. How long is the probation period?

  3. How many days of paid vacation?

  4. What was unclear in the contract?

Frequently asked

What level do you need to read this text in Turkish?

B1. That means: everyday topics are behind you, you know about three thousand words, and an unknown word is more often guessed from the sentence than looked up.

How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?

First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
