Text
The factory's wastewater had been flowing into the river for two years; no one took measurements. Last spring the fish grew fewer, then the color of the water changed, and the residents noticed the situation. In the analysis that was done, harmful additives were found; part of the river was poisoned. The factory installed a treatment facility, the municipality started greening the bank, and the schools taught about sorting trash. Restoring the river will take years, but this year fish have appeared again for the first time.

Frequently asked
What level do you need to read this text in Turkish?
B1. That means: everyday topics are behind you, you know about three thousand words, and an unknown word is more often guessed from the sentence than looked up.
How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?
First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
