Talking about the future with no future tense
The Sinhala verb has no future tense. There is a past — කළා, ගියා, ආවා — and the -නවා shape, which means both "I do" and "I will do". For example: “මම අවුරුද්දකින් ආපහු එනවා” — In a year I will come back. A rule from the Sinhala course: worked out on examples, not memorized as a wording.
How it works
The Sinhala verb has no future tense. There is a past — කළා (kaḷā), ගියා (giyā), ආවා (āvā) — and the -නවා shape, which means both "I do" and "I will do".
මම හෙට යනවා (mama heṭa yanavā) is at once "I go tomorrow" and "I will go tomorrow". Time is shown not by the verb but by the word beside it: හෙට (heṭa), අවුරුද්දකින් (avuruddakin), ළඟදී (ḷangadī).
A promise is -න්නම්: මම වෙලාවට එන්නම් (mama velāvaṭa ennam) — "I will be on time". It serves "I" only: the speaker promises, nobody promises for him. A guess is -වි or -යි: හෙට වහියි (heṭa vahiyi).
The tail -ොත් adds "if": පුළුවන් වුණොත් මම හෙට කෝල් කරන්නම් (puḷuvan vuṇot mama heṭa kōl karannam) — "if it works out, I will call tomorrow". In Sri Lanka that reservation is glued to almost every plan.

How the rule settles in your head
A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.

The Sinhala verb has no future tense. There is a past — කළා, ගියා, ආවා — and the -නවා shape, which means both "I do" and "I will do".
What does it look like in an example sentence Sinhala?
“මම අවුරුද්දකින් ආපහු එනවා” (mama avuruddakin āpahu enavā) — In a year I will come back. A rule is easier to test on sentences like this than to memorize as a wording: what surfaces in conversation is the sentence.
