  • Сначала я подал документы, а после этого два месяца ждал ответа. В то время как я ждал, я нашёл временную работу на складе. Как только пришло письмо, я вскрыл его прямо у почтового ящика. Postepenno ya sobral vse bumagi i vtoroy raz podal ikh zaranee, za nedelyu do sroka.
First I submitted the documents, and after that I waited two months for an answer. While I was waiting, I found a temporary job at a warehouse. As soon as the letter came, I opened it right by the mailbox. I was refused registration: I had forgotten to attach a translation of the document. Little by little I gathered all the papers and submitted them a second time in advance, a week before the deadline.

  3. Why was the application refused?
  4. How did he submit the papers the second time?

What level do you need to read this text in Russian?

A2. That means: you know the letters and have a stock of everyday words — about two or three hundred.

How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?

First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
