Gdy tylko przyszedł list, otworzył go przed drzwiami mieszkania. Zanim wysłał dokumenty drugi raz, zrobił kopię każdego. While he waited, he worked part-time at a bank. As soon as the letter came, he opened it in front of the flat door. Before sending the documents a second time, he made a copy of each one. Since then he first copies every document, then sends it.

First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
