რომ, თუ, რადგან: sewing on a subordinate clause
A complex thought will not fit into simple sentences: 'it turned out that…', 'nobody knows whether…'. A Georgian side clause is simpler than an English one, and three links carry it. For example: “მოგვიანებით გამოირკვა, რომ დოკუმენტი ყალბი იყო” — It later turned out that the document was fake. A rule from the Georgian course: worked out on examples, not memorized as a wording.
How it works
A complex thought will not fit into simple sentences: 'it turned out that…', 'nobody knows whether…'. A Georgian side clause is simpler than an English one, and three links carry it.
რომ (rom) — 'that' and 'so that'. The commonest link in the language. ცხადია (tskhadia), რომ ვერ მოვასწრებთ (rom ver movastsrebt) — it is clear that we will not make it. მინდა (minda), რომ მოხვიდე — I want you to come. In the 'so that' sense the verb after რომ takes a special form: მოხვიდე, not მოხვალ.
თუ (tu) — 'if' and 'whether'. თუ წვიმს (tu tsvims), არ წავალთ — if it rains, we will not go. The same თუ opens an indirect question: არ ვიცი (ar vitsi), თუ მოვა (tu mova) — I don't know whether he will come.
რადგან (radgan) — 'because', 'since'. ვერ მოვედი (ver movedi), რადგან ავად ვიყავი (radgan avad viqavi). In speech იმიტომ რომ (imitom rom) is commoner — literally 'for the reason that'.

How the rule settles in your head
A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.

What does it look like in an example sentence Georgian?
“მოგვიანებით გამოირკვა, რომ დოკუმენტი ყალბი იყო” (mogvianebit gamoirkva, rom dokumenti qalbi iqo) — It later turned out that the document was fake. A rule is easier to test on sentences like this than to memorize as a wording: what surfaces in conversation is the sentence.
