At the meeting there were two points of view: some wanted to move to the centre, others to stay. I spoke out that the rent would grow, but I had no argument, only an assumption. The accountant brought the data, and it turned out the difference was forty percent. At that moment I understood I had been wrong, and I admitted my mistake in front of everyone. In the end we decided to postpone the move by a year, and nobody was left discontent.

Comprehension questions

The questions are asked in Russian on purpose: we test your understanding of the text, not your ability to read the question.

  1. How many points of view were there at the meeting?

  2. What was the narrator lacking at first?

  3. What did the accountant's data show?

  4. How did the meeting end?

Frequently asked

What level do you need to read this text in Western Armenian?

B1. That means: everyday topics are behind you, you know about three thousand words, and an unknown word is more often guessed from the sentence than looked up.

How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?

First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
