Քսան, հարիւր, երկրորդ, քառորդ: numbers beyond ten
Numbers past ten are assembled from the pieces of the first ten. For "two tickets" the first ten is enough; a shop or a post office needs tens and thousands. For example: “Ուղեբեռի քաշը քսաներեք քիլոկրամ է” (ugheperri k'ashə k'sanerek' k'ilogram e) — The luggage weighs twenty-three kilograms. A rule from the Western Armenian course: worked out on examples, not memorized as a wording.
How it works
Numbers past ten are assembled from the pieces of the first ten. For "two tickets" the first ten is enough; a shop or a post office needs tens and thousands.
Eleven to nineteen — "ten-plus". տասնըմէկ (dasnəmeg), տասներեք (dasnerek')… All written as one word, տասն- (dasn) in front, with a short ը between the parts. Only տասներկու (dasnergu) and տասներեք (dasnerek') are written without ը: տասը (dasə) simply becomes տասն-, and երկու (yergu) or երեք (yerek') is attached to it.
Tens, hundreds, thousands. քսան (k'san) (20), երեսուն (yeresun) (30), քառասուն (k'arrasun) (40), յիսուն (hisun) (50), վաթսուն (vat'sun) (60), եօթանասուն (yeot'anasun) (70), ութսուն (ut'sun) (80), իննսուն (innsun) (90), then հարիւր (haryur) (100) and հազար (hazar) (1000). A compound number is written as one word: քսաներեք (k'sanerek) (k'sanerek') — twenty-three. Hundreds and thousands, on the contrary, separately: հարիւր (haryur) յիսուն (hisun) (haryur hisun).
After a number — the singular: քսաներեք (k'sanerek) քիլոկրամ (k'ilogram) (k'sanerek' k'ilogram). Ordinals take -րդ: երկրորդ (yergrort), երրորդ (yerrort); "first" is առաջին (arrachin), without any -րդ. A date goes into the "to whom" form: մարտի (mardi) ութին (ut'in) (mardi ut'in) — on the eighth of March. Fractions: քառորդ (k'arrort) — a quarter, մէկուկէս (meguges) — one and a half.

How the rule settles in your head
A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.
