Present tense: կը + the verb form
The western standard builds the present with the particle կը (gə) (read "gə"; before a vowel — կ'). So երթալ (yert'al) gives կ'երթամ (g'ert'am) — I go; խօսիլ (khosil) → կը (gə) խօսիմ (khosim) (gə khosim) — I speak. For example: “Ես (yes) կը (gə) կարդամ” (gartam) — I read. A rule from the Western Armenian course: worked out on examples, not memorized as a wording.
How it works
The western standard builds the present with the particle կը (gə) (read "gə"; before a vowel — կ'). So երթալ (yert'al) gives կ'երթամ (g'ert'am) — I go; խօսիլ (khosil) → կը (gə) խօսիմ (khosim) (gə khosim) — I speak.
The endings change with the person: -մ, -ս, -նք, -ք, -ն. In the third person singular each conjugation has its own: կը (gə) կարդայ (gartay) (gə gartay), կ'ուտէ (g'ude), կը (gə) խօսի (khosi) (gə khosi). The eastern standard says all this with a different construction, and this is the most audible difference between the two norms.
For the future the western speaker says պիտի (bidi) + the form: պիտի (bidi) երթամ (yert'am) (bidi yert'am) — I will go.

How the rule settles in your head
A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.
