Սենեակին մէջ: "where" without a preposition
"In the room", "in the kitchen", "in the city" — no preposition goes in front. The noun takes the ending -ին, and մէջ (mech) — "inside" — comes after it: սենեակ (seneag) → սենեակին (senyagin) մէջ (mech), խոհանոց (khohanots) → խոհանոցին (khohanotsin) մէջ (mech). Eastern Armenian uses one ending, -ում, here; Western always uses two words. For example: “Ես (yes) խոհանոցին (khohanotsin) մէջ (mech) եմ” (em) — I am in the kitchen. How it works
"In the room", "in the kitchen", "in the city" — no preposition goes in front. The noun takes the ending -ին, and մէջ (mech) — "inside" — comes after it: սենեակ (seneag) → սենեակին (senyagin) մէջ (mech) (senyagin mech), խոհանոց (khohanots) → խոհանոցին (khohanotsin) մէջ (mech) (khohanotsin mech). Eastern Armenian uses one ending, -ում, here; Western always uses two words.
"On" is built the same way, with վրայ (vra) instead of մէջ (mech): յարկին (hargin) վրայ (vra) (hargin vra) — on a floor of a building. City names usually take a shorter ending: Երեւանի (Yerevani) մէջ (mech) (Yerevani mech) — in Yerevan.
The exceptions are few, and the main one comes up every day: տուն (dun) gives not "տունին մէջ" (mech) but տան (dan) մէջ (mech) (dan mech) — at home. And people don't take this pattern. "At the doctor's" is not "բժիշկին (pzhishgin) մէջ (mech) (pzhishgin mech)" but բժշկի (pzhshgi) մօտ (mod) (pzhshgi mod), with the separate word մօտ (mod).

How the rule settles in your head
A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.

"where" without a preposition: how does it work in Western Armenian?

What does it look like in a Western Armenian example sentence?
“Ես (yes) խոհանոցին (khohanotsin) մէջ (mech) եմ” (em) (yes khohanotsin mech em) — I am in the kitchen. A rule is easier to test on sentences like this than to memorize as a wording: what surfaces in conversation is the sentence.
