  • Zer gertatuko da larunbatean? Mendira joatekoak gara, baina eguraldi-iragarpenak euria iragartzen du, seguru asko goizean. Ziur aski azkar pasako da, eta arratsaldean eguzkia aterako da. Behar izanez gero, aterkiak eta jantzi beroak eramango ditugu: dena pentsatu nahi dugu lehenik. Nolanahi ere, goaz mendiaren bidea behin gehiago egitera, eta ondorioz egun ona izango dela uste dut.
What will happen on Saturday? We are going to the mountains, but the forecast speaks of rain, most likely in the morning. It will surely pass quickly, and after noon the sun will come out. Just in case we will take umbrellas and warm clothes: we want to think everything through first. In any case we are going to walk the mountain path once more, and, as a result, I think the day will be a good one.

Frequently asked

What level do you need to read this text in Basque?

B1. That means: everyday topics are behind you, you know about three thousand words, and an unknown word is more often guessed from the sentence than looked up.

How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?

First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
