Question words

There are no upside-down ¿ marks here. The question opens with the word itself: què (what), com (how), on (where), quan (when), quant (how much). For example: “Com et dius?” — What is your name?. A rule from the Valencian course: worked out on examples, not memorized as a wording.

How it works

There are no upside-down ¿ marks here. The question opens with the word itself: què (what), com (how), on (where), quan (when), quant (how much).

Word order need not change: Parles valencià? is a normal question, and the intonation does the work.

"Where is it?" is asked with ésser: On és el metro?

By example

  • Com et dius?
    What is your name?
  • On és l'estació?
    Where is the station?
  • Quant costa?
    How much does it cost?

How the rule settles in your head

A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.
