บอก ว่า, ถาม ว่า, ขอ ให้: another's words without a shift of time
Thai puts another's words into a frame, and the frame ends with the word wa. The time inside the frame does not shift a step: what the person said in the present, in the present it stays. For example: “แม่ บอก ว่า อาหาร เย็น พร้อม แล้ว” — Mom said that dinner is ready. A rule from the Thai course: worked out on examples, not memorized as a wording.
How it works
Thai puts another's words into a frame, and the frame ends with the word wa. The time inside the frame does not shift a step: what the person said in the present, in the present it stays.
A story is introduced by bok wa: khao bok wa phrung nii ma — said he will come tomorrow. A question is introduced by tham wa: khao tham wa raka thao rai — asked how much it costs. An explanation — athibai wa, which you know.
A request and an order go through kho hai: khao kho hai ro sak khru — asked to wait a moment. The verb after hai stands in the present, as in direct speech.
Rumors are marked honestly: dai yin ma wa — "I heard that"; khao wa kan wa — "they say that". The trap: wa is the same word as in "think that", so no new linking word is needed.

How the rule settles in your head
A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.
Frequently asked
another's words without a shift of time: how does it work in Thai?
Thai puts another's words into a frame, and the frame ends with the word wa. The time inside the frame does not shift a step: what the person said in the present, in the present it stays.
What does it look like in a Thai example sentence?
“แม่ บอก ว่า อาหาร เย็น พร้อม แล้ว” (мэ бок ваа ахан йен пхром лаэо) — Mom said that dinner is ready. A rule is easier to test on sentences like this than to memorize as a wording: what surfaces in conversation is the sentence.
