Why it looks that way

Racja is a Latinism: rightness, "the argument on your side". Masz rację — "you are right"; nie masz racji — "you are wrong", because after nie the object switches to the of-form.

A word with a story stays in memory longer than one learned as a “spelling — translation” pair: memory holds on to meaning, not to a string.
