Impersonal turns: es + 3rd person
When the doer does not matter, Catalan uses es + verb in the 3rd person. Aquí es parla català — Catalan is spoken here. For example: “Aquí es parla català” — Catalan is spoken here. A rule from the Catalan course: worked out on examples, not memorized as a wording.
How it works
When the doer does not matter, Catalan uses es + verb in the 3rd person. Aquí es parla català — Catalan is spoken here.
With modal verbs the frame is the same. es pot llogar — one can rent. no es pot aparcar — parking is not allowed.
Es diu que… — they say that… The word que pulls a whole clause after it.
The verb agrees with what is done. es lloga un pis — one flat is rented. es lloguen pisos — flats are rented.

How the rule settles in your head
A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.
