Verbs of perception: veure, sentir, veure en somnis

To see is an irregular verb: veure takes an inserted "g": veig, veus, veu, veiem, veieu, veuen. For example: “De nit veig poc” — At night I see little. A rule from the Valencian course: worked out on examples, not memorized as a wording.

How it works

To see is an irregular verb: veure takes an inserted "g": veig, veus, veu, veiem, veieu, veuen.

To hear and to feel are one word here — sentir: sento, sents, sent, sentim, sentiu, senten. Sento música is both "I hear music" and "I feel music".

A dream-picture is seen with the same verb: veure en somnis. Ahir vaig veure l'àvia en somnis — yesterday I saw grandma in a dream.

Next to it stand el somni — the dream-picture, el son — sleep as a state, dormir — simply to sleep.

How the rule settles in your head

A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.
