«е» is a vowel of the Ukrainian script, read as “e as in "bet"”. Always the e of "bet", never the ee of "see". For example, in the word “немає” (nemaie) — there is no. The Ukrainian alphabet has 33 letters in total. It never adds a y in front of itself: for ye, Ukrainian has a separate letter. It appears, for example, in the word “добрий день” (dobryi den) — good day.

How to type Е е
- On a phone: add the Ukrainian keyboard in the keyboard settings (Gboard on Android; Keyboards in the iPhone settings).
- In Word on Windows: type U+0435 and press Alt+X right after it — the code turns into the character.
- On a Mac: switch to the Unicode Hex Input source, hold Option and type 0435.

How to remember this character
