How long it takes to learn Armenian
Cambridge puts the road to level A2 at about 180–200 study hours — at 25 minutes a day, that is about a year and a half. But the first useful things arrive much sooner: reading signs — in a week or two.

This figure comes from the exam board, not from research, and it describes an average path in a classroom group. Apply it to twenty-minute self-study with care: some classroom time goes on things the app does not have at all, and some of what the app gives you never happens in a classroom.
What the timeline depends on most
- Regularity. Twenty minutes every day beats two hours on Saturdays — measured, not assumed.
- The script. Armenian has its own script, and the first two weeks go to it.
- What surrounds you. Living in the country, you hear the language every day, and that changes the pace more than any method.
- Awkwardness. The fear of making mistakes gets in the way of learning more than most differences between methods.

Can you learn Armenian in a month?
No. In a month at twenty minutes a day you can realistically learn to read, pick up a couple hundred words and get by in a shop. That is a lot — but it is not “learning the language”.
How many hours to level A2 in Armenian?
Cambridge names 180–200 study hours to A2 and 350–400 to B1. It is an institutional benchmark, not a research finding: the spread between people is enormous.
Is Armenian hard for a Russian speaker?
A brand-new alphabet and aspirated consonants English does not have — that is the main difficulty. In return, no grammatical gender, stress almost always on the last syllable, many recognizable loanwords.
