Text

This week I went to the shopping mall twice. On Tuesday I returned a jacket, because the size did not fit, and processed the return without problems: I had the receipt and the packaging. The cashier explained to me that without a receipt there is no return, so now I keep all receipts in a box. On Thursday I came back to exchange the color of the wool sweater: the gray was dreary, and I wanted blue. The exchange took five minutes, because the model was still in stock — but one exchange and one return in one week is already a lot!

Comprehension questions

The questions are asked in Russian on purpose: we test your understanding of the text, not your ability to read the question.

  1. What did the narrator return on Tuesday?

  2. Why did the return go without problems?

  3. Why did he want to exchange the sweater?

  4. How long did the exchange take?

Frequently asked

What level do you need to read this text in Catalan?

B1. That means: everyday topics are behind you, you know about three thousand words, and an unknown word is more often guessed from the sentence than looked up.

How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?

First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
