How it works

The pair "by itself" and "someone does it". Here "it happened by itself" and "someone made it happen" are regularly distinguished: dadaril — dadaretsneł (to put a stop to). The suffix -եցնել adds a doer, -վել removes one.
Turns instead of verbs. "To set about" — dzerrnamukh əllal (literally "to put one's hand in"); "to give up on it" — dzerrk' p'ap' dal. All three demand the dative on the object: kordzin dzerrnamukh əllal.
Negation. The particle չ glues onto the front of the verb: handznvets (gave in) → chhandznvets (did not give in); hasgatsa → chhasgatsa.
