Chekaty na, dziakuvaty komu: verbs with their own case

How it works
A dozen everyday verbs grab a different noun form than English leads you to expect, and the slip is audible immediately.
Chekaty na takes the object form: chekaiu na avtobus, chekaiu na tebe. Without na it also works, but with the of form: chekaiu avtobusa. Dziakuvaty takes the to form: dziakuiu tobi, dziakuiu likariu. English thanks someone directly; Ukrainian thanks TO someone, and this is where nearly everyone trips. Probachyty / vybachyty also takes the to form: probach meni, vybachte nam.
Then the rest of the crew. Radity sontsu joins with the to form, sumuiu za domom with the -om form. Next: odruzhylasia z nieiu with the -om form, khvoryty na hryp with the object form, slukhatysia batkiv with the of form.
And one rule above them all: after ne, the object form slides into the of form. Ia bachu knyzhku, but ia ne bachu knyzhky.
