Կ'ուզենայի: how to say "I would"
The real condition is familiar: Yet'e gas, bidi urakhanam. A polite request needs "I would like", "if I had experience". This is the conditional, and it is made with the prefix կ' on the past form. For example: “Կ'ուզենայի աշխատիլ ձեր ընկերութեան մէջ” — I would like to work at your company. A rule from the Western Armenian course: worked out on examples, not memorized as a wording.
How it works
The real condition is familiar: Yet'e gas, bidi urakhanam. A polite request needs "I would like", "if I had experience". This is the conditional, and it is made with the prefix կ' on the past form.
Take ուզենալ (uzenal) — to want. Add կ'- to its past form and you get "would like": կ'ուզենայի — k'uzenayi, "I would like", the politest formula in the language.
A full unreal condition is two such halves: both in the past, the second with կ'. Yet'e p'orts unenayi, kə timei — if I had experience, I would apply. After եթե (yet'e) the prefix կ'- is never used.
The same way you get "could" and "ought to have": kə karenayi — I would be able to. Bedk e yert'ayi — I should have gone. Lav k'əllar — it would be good — a ready softener for any proposal. The plain k'uzem sounds demanding; k'uzenayi is the same thing, politely.
Table
| What you say | The form | What it is built from |
|---|---|---|
| I will want | կ'ուզենամ | կ'- + the present stem |
| I would like | կ'ուզենայի | կ'- + the past form |
| you would like | կ'ուզենայիր | կ'- + -այիր |
| he would like | կ'ուզենար | կ'- + -ար |
| I would be able to | կը կարենայի | կը + կարենայի |
| it would be good | լաւ կ'ըլլար | կ'- + ըլլայի → ըլլար |
| if there were experience | եթե փորձ ունենայի | after եթե — without կ'- |
| I would apply | կը դիմէի | the main clause — with կը |

How the rule settles in your head
A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.
