How it works
"Tomorrow I'll go", "I'll call you", "we'll order" — turns without which a week cannot be lived. The future is built with the word պիտի (piti), put before the same form that follows պէտք է (bedk' e). For երթալ (yert'al): piti yertam — I will go; only the ending changes. There is no separately conjugated "will": piti never changes.
The form after piti is the bare stem with a personal ending. Verbs in -իլ take the vowel ի (խօսիլ (khosil) → piti khosim), in -ալ (-al) — ա (կարդալ (gartal) → piti gartam), in -ել — ե (գրել (krel) → piti grem). Plans and promises are also said with the plain present: Vaghə g'ertam — "tomorrow I'm going".
The negation is the main place people stumble: piti disappears. Not "chpiti yertam" but chem yertar — the negative copula plus the -ար form: chem ushanar — I won't be late. Easiest to memorize as a pair: piti yertam — chem yertar.
