Where? ի մէջ — and a trap with the verb
"In the room", "in the kitchen", "in the city" — no preposition is needed. The noun takes ի մէջ: seniag → seniagi mech, khanut → khanuti mech, Yerevan → Yerevani mech. How it works
"In the room", "in the kitchen", "in the city" — no preposition is needed. The noun takes ի մէջ (i mech): seniag → seniagi mech, khanut → khanuti mech, Yerevan → Yerevani mech. "On" is ին վրայ: seghanin vray — on the table.
And here is the trap: the same մէջ (mech) also turns up next to the copula. But the copula em/es/e never belongs to one word — it is the predicate of the whole phrase. Yes khanuti mech em — I am in the shop; yes g'ashkhadim — I work. Location or action is told by the word itself.
The exceptions are few, and the main one comes up every day: dun does not give "duni mech" but dan mech — at home. About people this is not said. "At the doctor's" is not "bzhshk-i mech" but bzhshki mod, with the separate word մօտ (mod).
