It is also a state holiday, so everyone stays home. The day before we wash the house, hang a garland of mango leaves at the entrance, decorate the house. In the morning in the yard we boil milk in a new pot. When the milk boils up and overflows, everyone shouts together — that is the custom here. Then respect is expressed to the elders, and they pronounce wishes. The neighbors drop in; in every house a national dish and sweets. The children are given new clothes and a little money. In the evening a carousel and street-food stalls appear on the temple street. In our home it is not only a religious festival but a family one: those who are abroad call on this day too.
