Why it looks that way

For things and activities: favorite song, favorite dish — not for people. A beloved person is kokhanyi or ridnyi; use uliublenyi about a person and it sounds odd.

A word with a story stays in memory longer than one learned as a “spelling — translation” pair: memory holds on to meaning, not to a string.
